Overview

Marist University (formerly Marist College) is located in Poughkeepsie, New York, and was founded in 1929 by the Marist Brothers. It is situated along the banks of the Hudson River. As a private liberal arts and career-oriented institution of higher education, the campus spans approximately 180 acres and includes a branch campus in Florence, Italy, as well as a graduate teaching center in New York City. The university comprises six colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, Science and Mathematics, Communication and the Arts, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Global and Professional Programs. It offers nearly 50 undergraduate programs and over a dozen master's and doctoral programs, emphasizing small class sizes and practical learning. It is also home to the renowned Marist Polling Institute. The university's athletic teams, the “Red Foxes,” compete in NCAA Division I competitions. Campus life is vibrant, providing students with a global perspective and professional competitiveness.
