Overview

Longwood University is located in Farmville, Virginia, USA, and was founded in 1839 as a women's theological seminary. After several name changes, it was elevated to university status in 2002, making it the third oldest public university in Virginia. The university's mission is to cultivate “citizen leaders,” offering a curriculum centered on liberal arts education, with an emphasis on small class sizes and interactive teaching methods. Currently, the university comprises three colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, and the College of Education and Human Services, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs. The “Rotunda” (formerly known as Ruffner Hall) on campus is one of its iconic buildings, holding significant historical and cultural importance.
